Torpedo Pumps are the first pumps of their kind engineered to be powerful, high-flow/low profile pumps that are lightweight and water-cooled. Their unique flow-through water jacketing uses no oil and allows these pumps to be used in or out of water. Their durable, non-corrosive construction, their ease of installation and use, and their versatility make them the pump of choice for many high-flow applications. These pumps operate in fresh or salt water environments. Perfect for ponds and water gardens, waterfalls and water displays, large irrigation systems, cooling and air conditioning systems, and high-volume re-circulation systems.
Continuous operation of these pumps in a pond or waterfall requires that the pump be sized for each specific installation. Pumps last longer and use less electricity when operated in the mid-range of their performance curve (see charts below). To calculate this, measure the height in feet from the surface of the pond water to the point where the water returns to the pond (perhaps a waterfall spillway). Add one (1) foot for every 90 degree elbow through which the water passes from the pump to the point of return. Add one (1) foot for every ten (10) foot length of tubing. This will provide the total height that the pump must move the water. Locate that height in feet on the vertical axis of the charts below and read to he right until you intersect the dotted red line. It is best to operate the pump in the head height shown by the green area. If the lines intersect too far to the left of the graph you must choose a larger pump. If they intersect too far to he right you may either choose a smaller pump or install a ball valve at the discharge of the pump. By slightly closing the ball valve, never more than one third, you will create additional back-pressure on the pump that will allow it to operate correctly in the mid-range of its performance curve. Proper sizing of the pump to your specific installation will ensure optimal performance and maximum pump life.

* T1500: 1" male threaded discharge. A hose adapter and female pipe coupling are required to attach 1" tubing. If volume is important as opposed to high head, we suggest to use 1-1/2" kink-free tubing instead. Threaded adapters are required to attach 1-1/2" tubing to the pump discharge. Please ask us.
** T4000: 1-1/2" male threaded discharge. A hose adapter and female pipe coupling are required to attach 1-1/2" tubing. If volume is important as opposed to high head, we suggest to use 2" high-pressure PVC S-40 tubing instead. Threaded and PVC S-40 adapters are required to attach 2" tubing to the pump discharge. Please ask us.
*** T7500: 3" male threaded discharge. We suggest to use 3" high-pressure PVC S-40 tubing. Threaded and PVC S-40 adapters are required to attach 3" tubing. Please ask us.
**** T10000: 3" male threaded discharge. We suggest to use high-pressure PVC S-40 tubing. Threaded and PVC S-40 adapters are required to attach either one 4" tubing line or two 3" tubing lines. Please ask us.
* All figures
are based on the following assumptions: Minimum pond depth of 18 inches.
Max. flow rate shown above is circulated through the filter. Filter is
operated continuously.
Pond size
recommendations are approximate and are only given for general guidance.
All performance data were obtained under controlled conditions. Real-world
performance may vary due to local circumstances.
